Dog Dancer Takes European Gold
Christine Bérczes, a Swiss-Hungarian dual citizen residing in Hollókő, Hungary, has achieved remarkable success in the world of dog dancing. At the recent European Championship, she and her two dogs, J’adore and Meredith, won the gold medal in the “trio” competition.
Christine, who previously worked in tourism, was introduced to dog dancing over eight years ago after attending a friend’s demonstration. Despite initial skepticism, she was quickly captivated by the sport, where handlers and their dogs perform choreographed routines to music.
Christine, who also runs a dog kennel in Hollókő, not only competes but also teaches dog dancing both online and in person, with students from all over the world. She emphasizes that the sport is not only visually appealing but also enhances the bond between dog and handler and improves coordination skills. Christine and her dogs have previously appeared on America’s Got Talent and achieved a top ranking at the 2023 CRUFTS competition. A documentary series about her life and work, titled “The Secret Life of Dancing Dogs,” is also available on Disney+.
