Air Canada Relaunches Toronto-Budapest Seasonal Route in 2026
Air Canada has announced the relaunch of its seasonal flight service between Toronto (YYZ) and Budapest (BUD), set to take off again on June 6, 2026.
The Canadian flag carrier will operate the route four times a week until October 24, 2026, using its state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
According to a press release from the airline, flight AC 942 will depart Toronto on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 9:55 PM, arriving in Budapest the following day at 11:25 AM. The return flight, AC 943, will leave the Hungarian capital on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 1:15 PM, landing in Toronto at 3:15 PM.
The Dreamliner offers passengers a premium experience with a configuration that includes 30 lie-flat Business Class seats, 21 Premium Economy seats, and 247 Economy Class seats.
This announcement marks a significant return for the route, which was last operated by Air Canada’s subsidiary, Air Canada Rouge, during the 2019 summer season with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. The planned return in 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic, which also led to the retirement of the 767 fleet used on this route. Air Canada had attempted to relaunch the service in 2022 with its own Dreamliners, but those plans were ultimately shelved due to the war in Ukraine.
Air Canada is the second airline to announce the return of a transatlantic flight to Budapest recently. American Airlines announced in early August that it will resume its seasonal service between Philadelphia and Budapest from May 21 to October 5, 2026, operating daily with its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.
