EU Tourism Set for Unprecedented Economic Boost in 2025
The European Union’s tourism sector is projected to hit a record high in 2025, contributing an astounding €1.9 trillion to the economy, according to a new report from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). This represents a significant 10.5% of the EU’s total economy, cementing tourism’s role as a leading pillar of Europe’s economic recovery and growth.
The sector is expected to create or support 25.7 million jobs, accounting for approximately 12% of the EU’s total workforce. Countries like Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Croatia, and Hungary are already seeing robust recoveries, surpassing pre-COVID levels. Sustainability and innovation are proving to be key drivers for future growth, with new trends from ecotourism to digital nomadism shaping the industry.
Tourism continues to demonstrate its resilience, acting as a vital engine for the EU’s economic stability and global competitiveness.
