Australia, whasson?
Often, unfortunately, the media gives misinformation, or, shall we say, distorted information. Especially when a country is too far away from us, we tend to believe what we read or, unfortunately, often misinterpret the information we receive. Are we trying to get out of an article what we want to read? – Author: Continent Surfer
The past period has not been easy for anyone and perhaps this is what fuels the desire to finally be free to go out, travel and visit loved ones. We know that those who live in Australia are going through a tough time too. Restrictions, travel bans. Permission requests, sanctions to leave the country even as a citizen. But is that the end of it?
The beginning of October was an eventful one in Australia, but in this article we highlight two things.
Scott Morrison has announced that Australia will open its international borders next month. BUT, yes there is a BUT! It would give Australian citizens and holders of an Australian residence permit (PR) the ability to travel without prior permission
This applies to people who:
- are Australian citizens or hold a permanent resident visa and have received at least two doses of COVID vaccine and can provide proof of this
- only persons who have received and have had two doses of COVID vaccine that is accepted by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)
Which vaccines are accepted in Australia?
The vaccines are constantly being tested for their effectiveness so the list may grow or change ( you can officially check and watch for any changes here: https://www.tga.gov.au/ )
You can read a more recent report here: https://www.tga.gov.au/covid-19-vaccines-not-registered-australia-current-international-use-tga-advice-recognition
Four of the COVID-19 vaccines have been given provisional approval to be accepted:
- AstraZeneca Pty Ltd (Vaxzevria)
- Moderna Australia Pty Ltd (Spikevax)
- Janssen-Cilag Pty Ltd (COVID-19 vaccine Janssen)
- Pfizer Australia Pty Ltd (Comirnaty)
Other vaccines under testing have already been proposed for a fifth to be adopted in Australia.
Only those Australian states that have achieved a minimum 80% vaccination rate will be allowed to open their borders in November 2021.At present, the state of NSW will be the first to open its borders and Australian citizens and permanent residents who have two TGA-approved COVID 19 vaccinations will be able to travel without a visa.
It’s worth mentioning another event that happened in Australia. On 1 October, Premier of New South Wales Gladys Berejiklian resigned. She resigned because she feels she made a mistake. She is suspected of corruption, based on her close relationship with Daryl Maguire. Gladys Berejiklian gave an organisation a $5.8 million (roughly $1.2 billion) grant years ago for the Australian Clay Target Association’s clubhouse and convention centre in Wagga Wagga, which was owned by Daryl Maquire. She was approached by investigators into suspected corruption and resigned.
Things are happening on the other side of the world, so don’t think Australia is all smiles and giggles, as it isn’t .
