Missing German Tourist Found After 12 Days in Australian Outback
Perth, Australia – After a 12-day extensive search, Carolina Wilga, a 26-year-old German tourist, has been found alive in the remote Karroun Hill Nature Reserve in Western Australia. Wilga went missing on June 29 after her van broke down in a rugged area known for its sub-zero overnight temperatures.
Police located Wilga’s abandoned Mitsubishi van on July 10, approximately 150 kilometres from where she was last seen. Evidence at the scene suggested she had attempted to move the vehicle before setting off on foot in search of help. The 3000-square-kilometer nature reserve presented harsh conditions, including freezing nights, dense bushland, and a complete lack of designated roads or campsites.
Wilga was finally discovered on July 11 by a local resident on the outskirts of the nature reserve. Initial reports indicate she is physically unharmed, apart from some mosquito bites. She was able to walk to the rescue aircraft. Her full story is expected to emerge following a thorough medical examination at a Perth hospital.
